Head PGA Golf Professional
Head Golf Professional Henry has been on staff at Golden Valley Golf and Country Club since 1983 and has been the Head Golf Professional since 2002. A native of St. Paul, Henry started working at the age of 10 at the Town & Country Club in St. Paul under the direction of Head Golf Professional, Terry Hogan. He worked for Hogan until the age of 19, then turned professional and went to work at Island View Country Club for 3 years as an assistant before starting his long career here at Golden Valley under the tutelage of long-time Head Professional, Don Fink. Henry was awarded Minnesota PGA Private Facility Promoter of the Year in 2009.

Alan Strang Teaching Professional Age: 33 Education: University of North Dakota - Communications PGA Class "A" Professional since 1999 - 10 years of teaching experience Previous Experience: Villa Monterey in Scottsdale, AZ, The Pines in Brainerd Lakes, and Crane Creek C.C. in Boise, ID. Alan is the Teaching Professional at Golden Valley Golf and Country Club.
Al’s passion in the golf business is teaching. Al has worked with the two of the top golf teachers in the world - David Leadbetter and Butch Harmon. He continues to seek out opportunities to improve his teaching skills. Al teaches some of the top Minnesota PGA players. Al is a much sought after instructor whose philosophy is simple and teaching and communication style direct and clear. First, Al knows that every golf swing is different so he doesn’t teach a method, or give essentially the same lesson to each person. He adapts his lesson to the students needs. Second, Al doesn’t believe in overwhelming a student with so many tips that they feel paralyzed after the lesson. Al believes you should be able to implement his suggestions immediately. Al’s teaching philosophy is simple, he focuses on helping the student learn, so that he or she will play better and enjoy the game more. Al uses the most advanced swing analysis technology in his lessons.

Dan Kasner
PGA Assistant Professional
Dan graduated from The San Diego Academy of Golf in 1993 and started with Golden Valley Golf and Country Club in the spring of 1993. He has been fortunate to be affiliated with Golden Valley and still feels the same excitement that he had the first day he started. Dan believes that Golden Valley Golf and Country Club is a 1st class operation and he is honored to be a part of it. Dan reside in the south metro with his two boys. Family life is what consumes the bulk of his time when he is away from Golden Valley.

Kristi Nelson
PGA Assistant Professional
Kristi comes to us by the way of Olympic Hills and has previously worked at Brackett’s Crossing and The Minikahda Club. She currently serves on the Assistant’s Board of the Minnesota PGA and is an active player in section events. Kristi is a graduate of Concordia College and is very excited to be at GVGCC.
